Ephemeral works

artifacts intentionally made to last for only a temporary period in order to increase their perceived aesthetic value.

Ephemeral works - often made with what I find on my walks, are intentionally made to only last till the wind or waves move the items on.

If I use litter from humans I always take them with me once I have photographed the work.

As a self-declared pollution picker-upper and environmental artist I have created works on beaches and bush trails - that tell a story about our impact on the planet.  My Ephemeral pieces tend to focus on our human psyche and the elements of our emotional state that are triggered by or left on the environment we are in.

Focus                                                               2021

Many of us were drawn towards social media in 2021 - as a way of escaping the realities of our 'Brave New World'.  I found this concerning and decided to try and focus outwards,  to see the world around me.  These photos came out of that.

Submersion                                                    2007

During the wet season, our indescresions are submersed beneath the waters. The dry season, on the other hand, leaves our river systems dryer and allows us to see the pollution we leave behind.
